How to upgrade your E2S software

Important: Please note the upgrade guide is not for E2SA sites

if you're unsure of what software you're using please call to ask first.

FIRST STEP - BACKUP YOUR EXISTING SETUP & CONFIGURATION

  • Open your E2S software

  • Select the 'Configuration' tab

  • Click 'Backup Config' button at the bottom

  • Note the path & config filename showing at the bottom of the E2S connector:
    'ConfigFile_xxxxxxx.txt' (where xxxx's would represent the date and time stamp ie. ConfigFile_20180925132852.txt the numbers represent Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, Second in this format: YYYYMMDDHHMMSS

  • Note the E2S version you are currently running (shown in the top bar of the program window, eg. E2S L50 2017 Connector 2018.04.1)

  • Exit from E2S

  • Find the E2S installation folder (Usually C:\Excel2SageConnector)

  • Right click on the folder to display pop-up menu, move cursor 'Send to'

  • Select 'Compressed zip folder' from the drop-down list to create a compressed copy for safe-keeping. Once the installation/upgrade is complete, this can be deleted or archived.

SECOND STEP - DOWNLOAD AND EXTRACT LATEST E2S RELEASE

  • Click the button above, enter your details and download the latest E2S release

  • Once the file has downloaded, find the zipped folder on your PC

  • Right click on the zipped folder to display pop-up menu

  • Select 'Extract All' and save to a location to temporarily store the installation files (Usually Downloads or Desktop) 

THIRD STEP - INSTALLATION/UPGRADE OF E2S SOFTWARE

  • Find the extracted files

  • Double-click the 'SetupExcel2Sage.exe' file to start the installation/upgrade

  • Complete the installation in the same location as the previous install

  • Upon completion of the install, open the E2S software

  • Go to the 'Configuration' tab

  • Select 'Restore Config'

  • Select the configuration file you made note of in the first step and click open.

  • Exit E2S (This saves all changes to the Configuration and backs up XLSX file automatically.

IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN UPGRADING

  • It's important to note that usually later versions contain more functionality and additional columns throughout the import spreadsheet.

  • As such, the latest version of the import spreadsheet MUST be used to prevent import errors.

  • Once you’ve restarted the program, please refresh your Company Control to show your Sage companies and confirm correct data path for the upgraded version (check in Sage Help/About)

  • Check SDO (Third-Party Integration) is enabled in Sage or E2S will not be able to function. SDO keys available on E2S product page. Note: SDO is automatically enabled on Sage 50 from v24.2 onward.

  • Refer to the E2S Release notes or Help File – What’s New for changes to the functionality of E2S since your previous version E2S Release Notes
